Welcome to Starling Rescue!

Here you will find accurate care and instructions for caring for rescued starlings and sparrows.

Does the bird really need your help?

Baby birds that have all their feathers will leave the nest before they are fully able to fly. They may be found on the ground as they are trying to learn how to fly and are being cared for by their parents. You may place them in a bush or on a tree limb to be out of harms way. Babies that do not have all their feathers can safely be returned to the nest if possible (the parents will not abandon it if it has been touched). The exceptions are if the baby is injured , abandoned (please observe the baby for at least half an hour to see if a parent returns to feed it) , the mother is known to be dead or the baby has been in a cat or dogs mouth. If rescued from a cat or dog the baby will need antibiotics ASAP within 12 hours. The saliva from a cat or dog is highly toxic to a bird.

If indeed you need to rescue the baby please see the emergency care guide and The care and feeding guide for baby starlings and sparrows.
